MIAMI, FL, March 2026 - Contemporary visual artist Ahkeem Shaw has unveiled his newest original artwork, Echoes Of Time Unmuted, a powerful and emotionally layered piece honoring the resilience, courage, and enduring voices of women. Released during National Women’s History Month, the work has quickly evolved beyond the canvas, sparking a storytelling movement that invites women to reflect on and share the moments that shaped their voice.

At the center of the artwork is a young woman pulling tape from her mouth, enduring the sting of the moment while reclaiming her voice. Through symbolic layers of clothing that blend Victorian tradition with a textured futuristic jacket, the piece bridges history and futurity, representing the weight of inherited expectations alongside the strength and agency women continue to claim today.

Painted on wood rather than canvas, the raw grain and textured surface reinforce the layered journey represented within the work, a journey marked by resilience, resistance, and transformation.

What began as a single artwork has already grown into something larger.

Inspired by the powerful reactions the piece has sparked, Shaw partnered with micheck™, a next-generation cultural media and print-tech platform producing unmute.*, a storytelling initiative inviting women to share reflections on the moments that shaped their voice, from stories of resilience and courage to leadership, healing, and transformation.

As part of this initiative, women are invited to sit with the artwork and share their natural reactions and personal reflections, creating a living dialogue between the piece and the voices it inspires.

To bring this experience into the community, Echoes Of Time Unmuted will be presented as a featured installation on March 25 as part of Women’s History Month programming in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District, through a collaborative partnership between micheck™, Northeastern University Miami, the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Miami-Dade County, the Wynwood Business Improvement District (BID), and the Wynwood Chamber of Commerce.

Hosted at Northeastern University Miami, the event;
Breaking Barriers: Women Leading Innovation will explore how women are shaping today’s innovation ecosystem across business, technology, entrepreneurship, and community development.

During the event, attendees will encounter a unique installation centered around the artwork, including “The Unmute Chair,” a single chair placed in front of the painting where women are invited to sit, reflect, and, if moved, share the story that shaped their voice.

The chair transforms the installation into a symbolic and reflective space where personal stories become part of a larger cultural conversation.

These reflections will contribute to the growing unmute. storytelling platform—an evolving archive designed to amplify women’s voices and inspire others through shared experience.

“What began as a deeply personal work has quickly grown into something much larger,” said Shaw. “The women in my life have shown me what strength truly looks like. If this piece can create even a small space where women feel seen, heard, and empowered to share their story, then it has already fulfilled its purpose.”
